Hey all, it's been a while since a journal entry on here! unfortunatly I get caught up and forget about deviantArt sometimes, or don't get time to do anything but have a quick browse and am unable to submit any deviations! I have some writings I have been working on to put up, so stay tuned. Anyway. this special little journal entry is for a movie I just saw, called SiCKO, a documentary on health care. While it is particularly focused on the American system, it compares it with health care around the world, including Britain, France, Canada and Cuba. Yes, Cuba. In fact, Che Guevara's daughter makes an appearance in the documentary. This isn't a movie about Americans and why they are bad, but it as movie about who we are as human beings. It is a movie that really shows just how bad we can treat each other. We all have a right to life, a right to stay healthy and get treatment if we need it. Some us as human beings, have certainly become sickos & murderers. I encourage you all, wherever you are in the world, to see this movie, regardless of your views on medicine. It is in cinemas in America, I'm not sure if it is coming to Australia or not (you can download it, check it on YouTube etc), but whatever way you can, I encourage you to find it and see it. As an Australian with pretty damn good health care (I was in hospital last year and been many many times) and cannot complain, but it does not matter where you are from or how good your health service is, this is about how we as human beings can help, or refuse to help other human beings. So go see it, you will laugh and you might even cry, but this movie does not mock your intelligence or suggest you overthrow the government, only asks the question: Who are we? And what have some of us become? Everyone should see this, because everyone should care about the people around you, whether they are your neighbour, an enemy, or if they are in another country. If Michael Moore can pay 12,000 to provide health care for the guy who runs the biggest anti-Michael Moore website's wife, then we too can make a difference for those who need help.
